Library Editor: Parts Tab
The Part Library is the location where all part information is stored. This includes part data, footprint data and schematic symbols. This information appears as a single structure within the library. The main functions of the Parts tab in eCADSTAR Library Editor are described below.
- Part Name: The name of the part.
- Part Type: The part type for the part, can be General, Jumper or Star Point.
- Description: The description of the part.
- Part Class: The user definable class of the part. For example, Resistor to group resistor parts.
- Reference Designator Prefix: The prefix letter for the reference designator of the part. For example, C (for capacitors), R (for resistors).
- Footprint: The name of the footprint assigned to the part.
- Symbol: The name of the symbol assigned to the part.
- Number of Pins: The number of pins for the part.
- Part Acceptance Status: The acceptance status of the part. Either Approved or Unapproved.
- Part Acceptance Reason: The reason for the acceptance status.
- Maximum Height (mm): The distance between the top of the part and the board. This value must be greater than the Standoff Height value.
- Standoff Height (mm): The distance between the bottom of the part and the board.
- <System Attributes>: A column for each of the system attributes that are defined in the Parts Editor.
- <User-defined Attributes>: A column for each of the user-defined attributes that are defined in the Parts Editor.
Creating Parts
Parts comprise footprints and symbols. The following image shows the process of creating a part. You will create your own parts in the next task.
