User Command Settings

The User Command Settings dialog allows you to create User commands and assign them to customized functions, including shortcut keys, strokes and mouse buttons. The User commands that you create can be added to the Quick Access Toolbar in the relevant eCADSTAR application. They can also be added to the ribbon by right-clicking it, and selecting Customize the Ribbon. You can export the added User commands, and then import them to any eCADSTAR application. To display the dialog, click Configuration >  User Command Settings User Command Settings in the File tab.

User Command Settings

Location

Allows you to specify where the User command is saved in the relevant eCADSTAR application. It can be saved as a macro or User tool command in the Quick Access Toolbar, or in the Report Generator menu on the ribbon. If you select Custom, then it is not added to the Quick Access Toolbar or ribbon, but can be added subsequently.

Value Description
Custom The selected command is not added to User Report, User Tool or Macro menus. However, it can be accessed from the following dialogs: User Command Settings, Quick Access Toolbar Settings and Ribbon Setting.
Macro Menu The selected command is accessed from the drop down list on the Macro button in the Quick Access Toolbar.
Report Generator Menu The selected command is accessed from the drop-down list on the Report Generator split button on the ribbon.
User Tool Menu The selected command is accessed from the drop-down list on the Add User Tool button in the Quick Access Toolbar.

Command Name

For User commands, this value is displayed by the icon on the ribbon. It is also displayed when you point the cursor at the command on the ribbon.

  • Click Add in the User Command Settings dialog, and define this value in the Command name field in the Add User Command dialog.
  • Alternatively, click Edit in the User Command Settings dialog for a selected User command, and define this value in the Command name field in the Edit User Command dialog.

Add

Allows you to specify details for a new User command. An appropriate dialog is displayed, depending on the type of User command that you select in the drop-down menu.

Value Description
Custom Specify the details of the new command in the displayed the Add User Command Dialog. The selected command can be accessed from the following dialogs: User Command Settings, Quick Access Toolbar Settings and Ribbon Setting. However, it is not added to User Report, User Tool or Macro menus.
Macro Specify the details of the new command in the displayed Add Macro dialog. The selected command is accessed from the drop down list on the Macro button in the Quick Access Toolbar.
User Tool Specify the details of the new command in the displayed Add User Tool dialog. The selected command is accessed from the Add User Tool drop-down menu on the Quick Access Toolbar.
User Report Specify the details of the new command in the displayed Add User Report dialog. The selected command is accessed from the drop-down list on the Report Generator split button.

Edit

Allows you to configure a selected User command using the Edit User Command Dialog. You can change any of the values in the Add User Command dialog.

Delete

Deletes a selected User command. The deleted command is immediately removed from the ribbon.

Save as

Exports the User commands that you add, so they can be added to any eCADSTAR application or shared with other users. Specify a file name in the Save As dialog. These settings are saved as a .eac file.

Load

Imports previously-exported settings from the User Command Settings dialog. This allows you to add User commands to an eCADSTAR application, or share these customizations with other users. In the displayed Open dialog, double-click the exported .eac file. Alternatively, select it and click Open in the dialog. After removing duplicate items, the imported settings are merged with existing customizations. These settings are previewed in the User Command Settings dialog. Imported customizations are highlighted.

  • Click OK to add the previewed settings. The added User commands are made available in the relevant eCADSTAR application.
  • Click Cancel to discard the previewed settings.
Note
  • If you load commands that were exported from a different eCADSTAR application, and are not applicable to the current application, then they are made unavailable. Commands are also made unavailable that you load from a later release to one that does not support them.
  • The existing labels and icons that are assigned to a command are not changed if you attempt to load a duplicate command.

OK

The User commands that you add are saved in the relevant eCADSTAR application, and the User Command Settings dialog is closed.

Cancel

Closes the User Command Settings dialog without saving your changes.
