Sheet Reorder

For a circuit or definition block that you select in the Design Tree panel, the Sheet Reorder dialog allows you to make the following updates to its associated sheets.

  • Change the order of selected sheets.
  • Delete selected sheets.
  • Modify the description of each sheet.

It is launched by right-clicking a circuit or block in the Design Tree panel, and selecting Reorder Sheets on the assist menu. The changes made in the dialog are applied to the Design Tree panel when you click OK. If a sheet within the selected circuit or block is open, then this command is made unavailable.


Warning
If you click OK after making changes in the Sheet Reorder dialog, then the changes cannot be revoked or reapplied using the Undo or Redo commands.

 

Note
  • For a single-instanced block, the and buttons in this dialog are made unavailable.
  • For a multi-instanced block, you can change or delete the description of the sheet in this dialog. However, you cannot change the associated sheet order or delete a sheet.

 

Sheet Table

Lists the sheets within the circuit or block that you select in the Design Tree panel. Click in a row to select the relevant sheet. Select multiple sheets using the Ctrl or Shift key, or by dragging the cursor.

Item Description
Sheet Number Shows the number of the sheet that is displayed in the Design Tree panel. This value is immediately updated when you change the order of selected sheets by clicking or . If you delete multiple sheets within the table that have continuous No. values, then is shown in this column for a single row. "Non-Existent" is shown in the Description column. These are not shown for sheets that are removed from the bottom of the table. This column is read-only.
Description Adds a description for a sheet or multiple sheets. The specified description is shown in brackets after the sheet number in the Design Tree panel. Copy a description by typing Ctrl + C on the keyboard. Alternatively, right-click and select Copy on the assist menu.
Note
You can also add a description in the Sheet Settings dialog, Properties tab.
To add a description to the relevant sheet:
  • Type or paste an alphanumeric value, and press Return or click away from the cell.
  • Alternatively, point the cursor in the row, and then click the displayed button. In the Description dialog that is launched, enter a description and click OK. If you click Cancel in this dialog, then the specified changes are not applied. Right-click in the Description dialog to access the following commands on the assist menu.

To add a description to multiple sheets:
  • Select multiple sheets using the Ctrl or Shift key, or by dragging the cursor, and then click the displayed button.
  • In the displayed Description dialog, type or paste a description and click OK.
To delete a description:
  • Select the cell in the Description column, and then click Delete on the keyboard.
  • Alternatively, double-click the contents of the cell, or select a cell and press F2 on the keyboard. Next, right-click and select Delete on the assist menu.
  • To delete descriptions in multiple rows, first select the relevant cells using the Ctrl or Shift key, or by dragging the cursor.
Old Sheet Number If you change the order of sheets in this dialog using the or buttons, then the Old No. value shows the sheet number before it was moved. When the Sheet Reorder dialog is launched, this value matches the No. value. This column is read-only.

 

Item Description
Moves the selected sheet up by one row in the table. The selected sheet is assigned the sheet number associated with the row it is moved to. If you move a sheet up to a row with in the No. column, then the next sheet number in the existing sequence is created and assigned to it. You can move multiple sheets using the Shift key or by dragging the cursor to select them.
Moves the selected sheet down by one row in the table. The selected sheet is assigned the sheet number associated with the row it is moved to. If you move a sheet down to a row with in the No. column, then the preceding sheet number in the existing sequence is created and assigned to it. You can move multiple sheets using the Shift key or by dragging the cursor to select them.
Delete Sheet Immediately deletes the sheet or sheets that you select. Alternatively, right-click and select Delete on the assist menu. The sheet numbers in other rows are not changed, and "Non-Existent" is shown in the Description column. Select multiple sheets using the Ctrl or Shift key, or by dragging the cursor.
OK The changes that you make in the Sheet Reorder dialog are applied to the Design Tree panel, and the dialog is closed. These changes cannot be revoked or reapplied using the Undo or Redo commands.
Cancel The Sheet Reorder dialog is closed without saving any changes.

Assist Menu

You can launch the following commands by right-clicking in the Sheet Reorder dialog and selecting them on the assist menu.

Item Description
Delete Sheet Immediately deletes the selected row. Alternatively, click the Delete button in the Sheet Reorder dialog. The sheet numbers in other rows are not changed, and "Non-Existent" is shown in the Description column. You can delete multiple rows that you select using the Ctrl or Shift key, or by dragging the cursor.
Cut If the Description cell is selected for a single sheet, then the relevant text is cut and copied it to the clipboard. If multiple sheets are selected, then this command is made unavailable.
Copy If the contents of any column is selected, then the relevant text is copied it to the clipboard. Copy the contents of multiple rows by selecting them using the Ctrl or Shift key, or by dragging the cursor. Paste the copied text into the Description column by selecting the Description cell for a single row, and clicking Paste on the assist menu. Alternatively, type Ctrl + V on the keyboard.
Paste If you select the Description cell for a single row, then the Paste command is made available. Click Paste to paste the contents of the clipboard into the cell. Alternatively, type Ctrl + V on the keyboard. To update the Description cell for multiple rows, copy the contents of multiple cells, and then select a single row and click Paste.
Delete The Delete command deletes a selected object. In the context of this dialog, a editable cells content will be removed if the delete command is used.
