Import Sheet

The Import Sheet dialog allows you to import a sheet from a different design to a circuit in the current design. Specify the source design file, the circuit or block, and the required sheet.

  • If a part in an imported sheet does not exist in the destination Design Library, then the part is copied to it.
  • If the part already exists in the destination Design Library, then it is not copied to it.

Note
  • A sheet cannot be imported if it is being edited.
  • An open sheet cannot be renumbered.
  • Imported sheets are not automatically checked for duplicate reference designator values.

You can import a sheet using either of the following methods.

Using the Assist Menu

Execute the Import Sheet command by right-clicking a circuit in the Design Tree panel in the current design, and selecting Import Sheet on the assist menu. Alternatively, right-click a sheet in the Design Tree panel, and select Import Sheet Here. This inserts the sheet to the selected position. The sheet numbers of existing sheets are incremented.

Using Shortcut Keys

  1. In the Design Tree panel of the source design, select the schematic sheet that you want to copy and press Ctrl+C on the keyboard.
  2. Select the circuit or schematic sheet in the destination design tree and press Ctrl+V. The Import Sheet dialog is displayed.

Note
  • If the following conditions apply to a part in an imported or inserted sheet, then the part is copied to the Design Library as a temporary part.
  • The ID of the pin assignment used by the part is already in the Design Library.
  • Pin assignments with the same ID are different between the original Design Library and the destination Design Library.
  • If a temporary part is copied to the Design Library, then a message is shown in the Output panel. This advises you to reload and correct the relevant part.

Source

Specify a sheet to import to the current design.

Design
  • Assist menu method: specify a .sdes design file to import from a different design by selecting it in the Open dialog. This is displayed by clicking . The path is displayed to the selected design.
  • Shortcut key method: the specified design is displayed. However, you can specify a different design by clicking .
Allows you to browse to a source design file.
Circuit/Block
  • Assist menu method: specify a circuit or block within the selected design. This field is enabled only if a design is specified with at least one circuit or block.
  • Shortcut key method: the specified circuit or block is displayed. However, you can select a different value if required.
Sheet
  • Assist menu method: specify a sheet within the selected circuit or block. This field is enabled only if a design is specified with at least one sheet.
  • Shortcut key method: the specified sheet is displayed. However, you can select a different sheet if required.
  • For both methods:
  • If you import the sheet to a circuit, then the initial value is the smallest unused sheet number.
  • If you specify the position by selecting a sheet in a circuit, then the initial value is the selected sheet. You can select a different sheet if required. Existing sheet numbers are incremented.

Destination

Specify the location of the imported sheet.

Item   Description
Circuit/Block   Displays the circuit that you specify as the destination for the imported sheet.
Sheet number   The specified sheet is displayed. However, you can select a different sheet if required.
  • If you import the sheet to a circuit, then the initial value is the smallest unused sheet number.
  • If you specify the position by selecting a sheet in a circuit, then the initial value is the selected sheet. You can select a different sheet if required. Existing sheet numbers are incremented.

Design variation options

Specify the design variation information that is imported. This section is made available if the selected design has at least one variant.

Item   Description
