Finalizing the Padstack "Inner Suppressed" Update
This is an optional post migration operation. It is required only if unsuppressed or suppressed inner layer pad shapes on padstacks are used in a PCB design.
- Launch eCADSTAR Library Editor.
- On the ribbon, click the Open icon in the Library group. This Select Folder dialog is displayed. By default, it is set to the library that is specified in the previous step.
- Click Select Folder to open the library.
- On the ribbon, select the Padstack icon in the Editors group. The Padstack Editor dialog is launched.
- Select the Padstack Name column header so that the entire column is selected.
- Right-click the column header, and select Expand all Padstacks on the assist menu. All Padstacks are expanded and all layers with assigned pad shapes are visible.
- Select the Padstack Name, Layer, Connected Pad and Unconnected Pad columns as follows: click the Padstack Name column header, and then press Shift and click the Unconnected Pad column header.
- Right-click one of the column headers, and select Copy on the assist menu. Alternatively, press Ctrl and C.
Note
The following steps cannot be performed within the grid of the Padstack Editor dialog. The filters in this grid only alter the display of the grid. They do not control the selection of data within the grid when content is hidden. With filtered content, any actions within a selection which includes hidden data will also change the hidden columns, rows, cells, etc.

- Launch Microsoft Excel or a similar spreadsheet application, and select New > Blank workbook.
- In the workbook sheet grid, click a cell in row 1 and press Ctrl and V to paste the data copied from the eCADSTARPadstack Editor. Expand the column widths to clearly identify the cell contents.
- Select the four columns that are present, and apply filters to the columns. In Excel, this is done by clicking the Filter icon in the Data tab, Sort & Filter group.
- In the column which contains the Footprint layer names (the second column containing data), deselect all items except Inner_Suppressed in the Filter box.
- Click OK to filter the display to only show rows where the Inner_Suppressed string appears.
- In the last column of data, select the start and end rows displayed under the cell containing <Filter>, and select Delete. This removes pad name content from the Inner_Suppressed footprint layer, for the Unconnected Pad column.
- In the column which contains the Footprint layer names, (the second column containing data), select all items in the Filter box and click OK to display all rows in the sheet.
- In the last column, select the start and end rows where any of the four columns contain data. Only select data in the last column.
- Press Ctrl and C to copy this data.
- In Padstack Editor, select the first cell of the Unconnected Pad column. You will probably not be able to edit this cell as it contains the Padstack Name. Press Ctrl and V to paste the data into the grid. All data within the column is replaced. The Unconnected Pad cells for the Inner_Suppressed Footprint layer are cleared.
