Library Searcher Settings

The Library Searcher Settings panel allows you to specify the attributes that are displayed in Library Searcher, when in Thin mode or Wide mode. Wide mode is activated when the panel is extended beyond a certain width. This dialog is displayed by clicking Library Searcher Settings in the Library Searcher panel, when Parts is selected in the Search for box. Specified settings are applied immediately when you click Apply.

Item Description
Import parameters Import settings to this dialog by selecting a .xml parameter file that has been exported from eCADSTAR. In the displayed Open dialog, click Open. The existing Thin mode and Wide mode attributes are replaced. The imported attributes are displayed in the same order as when they were exported.
Export parameters

Saves the settings specified in this dialog. This allows them to be copied to another instance of eCADSTAR. The exported file contains lists of attributes for both Thin mode and Wide mode. The listed order in the file corresponds to the specified order of attributes for each view mode. Specify a location and file name in the Save as dialog, and click Save.

Part Attributes

Allows you to select the part attributes that are displayed in Library Searcher, when in Thin mode and Wide mode.

Item   Description
Filter   Autocratically filters the part attributes that are displayed in the Attribute list by matching the alphanumeric value that you enter. They are also filtered using the value selected in the Attribute Type box.
Attribute Type   Specify the type of user attributes that are displayed in the Attribute list.
  All Both System and User Defined attributes are listed.
  System System attributes are listed. These are displayed in black.
  User Defined User Defined attributes are listed. These are displayed in blue text
Attribute list   Lists the part attributes in alphabetical order. The settings in the Filter and Attribute Type boxes control the attributes that are displayed. You can specify that selected items are added to the Thin mode or Wide mode lists by selecting them, and clicking the relevant button. Select multiple attributes using the Ctrl or Shift key, or by dragging the cursor. User defined are displayed in blue text.

Thin mode

Specify the attribute columns that are displayed in the Library Searcher, when in Thin mode. When the Library Searcher Settings panel is first opened in Thin mode, the system attributes Part Name and Description are listed. If an attribute is missing from the library, then it in not displayed in the Attribute list, and an error message is shown.

The attributes that you select in the Attribute list are copied to the Thin mode, Attribute list. Select multiple items using the Ctrl or Shift key, or by dragging the cursor.
  • If no attribute is selected in the Attribute list, then newly-added attributes are added to the end of the list.
  • If an attribute is selected in the Attribute list, then newly-added attributes are added below it.
Attribute list Lists the attributes that are displayed in the Attribute list. User defined attributes are displayed in blue. Their order represents the order of the associated attribute column in the Attribute list in Thin mode. Change the order of the attributes using the and buttons.
Moves up selected attributes one place in their order in the Attribute list. Multiple attributes can be moved by selecting them using the Ctrl or Shift key, or by dragging the cursor.
Moves down selected attributes one place in their order in the Attribute list. Multiple attributes can be moved by selecting them using the Ctrl or Shift key, or by dragging the cursor.
Delete Deletes the selected attributes from the Attribute list. Multiple attributes can be deleted by selecting them using the Ctrl or Shift key, or by dragging the cursor. The Part Name attribute cannot be deleted.

Wide mode

Allows you to specify the attribute columns that are displayed in the Library Searcher, when in Wide mode. When the Library Searcher Settings panel is first opened in Wide mode, all system attributes followed by user defined attributes are listed that are in the library. If an attribute is missing from the library, then it in not displayed in the Attribute list, and an error message is shown.

Value Description
OK Saves the settings in the Library Searcher Settings dialog, and closes it. Library Searcher is updated in all currently-open eCADSTAR applications.
Cancel Closes the Library Searcher Settings dialog without saving your changes.
Apply Saves the settings in the Library Searcher Setting dialog and applies them immediately to the Library Searcher. The dialog remains open. Library Searcher is updated in all currently-open eCADSTAR applications.
