File Menu

Value Description
Open Allows you to open a data source file, or another data source file if data source files are already open. Data source files are generated by the SI Simulation System, or the PI/EMI Analysis module.

A file selection dialog is opened. Select the data source file to be opened and click Open. Alternatively, click Cancel to cancel the operation.

If you open a data source which is a different type to the currently-loaded or previously-loaded one, then a new instance of the Analysis Result Viewer is opened. See the Data Source section for details on types of data sources. For example, if you open a Time Domain data source and then close all the data, the application remains in this mode, and you can only open another Time Domain data source. However, if you open an Eye Pattern data source, then a new instance of Analysis Result Viewer is launched in Eye Pattern mode.

The file browser allows you to filter for a supported file type.

If you try to open an unsupported file type, then a warning message is displayed and the file is not loaded.

Touchstone Import

The Analysis Result Viewer supports the display of S-Parameters provided in Touchstone V1.0 and V2.0 files. Both, single-ended and differential ports are supported. For differential ports the mixed-mode S-Parameter display is supported. The official Touchstone parser is used, hence error messages are shown as output by the parser.

After successfully loading the data source, contained waveform data can be displayed in the Chart area, and the related navigation entries are listed in the Data Sources area.

Open Folder Opens the folder of the selected data source in the MS Windows Explorer file browser and the data source is selected within this folder.

Allows you to open more than one data source from a folder which may contain multiple data source files.

Export Displays the Export dialog. Select the format of the exported data in the Format box. Currently, CSV format and Image formats (jpg, png and bmp) are supported.

Save As Save the selected data source file in a new file (location) with a new name. Any changes made to the data source will be saved to this new file. Its name is updated in the Data Source List to the name that you specify.
Save Copy As The selected Data Source is saved in a new file location as a duplicate file. The name of the selected Data Source is not changed.
Close Closes the selected data source, and removes its content from the Chart area and the related Working Sets.

If there are unsaved changes, then a confirmation dialog is displayed. Click Save to save the changes. Alternatively, click Cancel to cancel the operation or click Discard to discard the changes.

Close All Close all data source files that are currently open.
Page Setup Allows you to define page layout settings for printing.
Print Prints the currently-active graph. The dialog allows you to select the used printer, number of copies and further printer settings.
Settings Opens the Settings dialog.
Exit Quits the viewer application. The current layout and settings are automatically saved.

Edit Menu

Value Description
New Working Set A Working data set could contain all data sets, multiple data sets or a single one. All data within one Working Set is displayed jointly within one Graph window. For comparing waveforms next to each other, or manipulating the view of a single waveform, you can create a new Working Set. See: here for more details.
Reuse Current Working Set Allows you to specify the working set that probe sets are grouped into. An indicator on the Working Set interface shows how the probe sets are grouped.
Remove Working Set Removes the selected Working Set from the display. This does not remove the actual data from the Analysis Result Viewer. You can still create a new working set, and add some data into it. For example, by dragging a selected entry from the Data Source tree into the new Working Set.
Remove All Working Sets Removes all Working Sets from the display.
