Analysis
Result Viewer: Data Sources
The Analysis Result Viewer allows you to view various analysis results.
SERO Database File
SERO (Signal
Integrity and EMI Result
Output) allows you to view Signal
Integrity and PI/EMI results data. For driver and receiver pins in an
electrical network, this includes voltage or current waveforms plotted
against time. These data are located in an XML database file called SEROdb,
and use the .srdb file extension. The SI
Simulation, and EMI and PI Analysis System create these files during SI,
EMI or PI Analysis. The Analysis Result
Viewer is launched automatically. However, you can manually add data
into it by clicking Open .
The SEROdb file cannot be viewed or edited.
Analysis Result Viewer: Operating Modes
The Analysis Result Viewer can operate in the following modes.
Time-Domain Mode (includes SI, and SI Parameter Sweep)
- Optimized operation mode for Signal Integrity Analysis of time domain and frequency domain voltage and current waveforms. SI Probe Sets provide comprehensive information for all relevant probes.
- For Parameter Sweeps, multiple related Data Sources
for all individual SI simulations are loaded into the Viewer, which
are managed jointly by a Summary
entry in the Data Source list.
Variations are displayed in the Working Set.
Eye Pattern Mode
SI Eye Pattern Mode
- Optimized operation mode for the Analysis of SI Eye Pattern. GUI elements that are not required are removed or disabled. Additionally, specialized measurement results are shown, and a statistical display of the Eye Pattern is provided in the Histogram view. The Base signal probe can be interactively selected from the Working Set.
AMI Eye Pattern
- This is based on a specific analysis flow, which is capable of simulating a very long bit pattern. This produces an Eye Pattern as a two-dimensional histogram chart for a serial channel in an RX AMI model. Consequently, no strobe signal or base signal can be specified for AMI Eye Patterns. There are also other deviations from the SI Eye Pattern operations.
- Due to the ability to simulate a longer bit pattern, a statistical analysis provides a Bit Error Rate (BER), which is displayed as a Bathtub curve. A Filter button toggles the display of the bathtub curve in relation to the Eye Pattern.
Frequency-Domain mode (S-Parameter and PI/EMI Mode)
Both, PI/EMI and S-Parameter results are frequency-domain data. Consequently, there are several similarities in the Analysis Result Viewer.
EMI and PI specific functions are provided in this view to easily access EMI and PI spectra. Results are available in the frequency domain only. The respective buttons for Impedance or Electric Field strength, for example, also appear in the Axis filter toolbar.
EMI and PI specific symbols allow easy identification of the different types of results in the Data Source and Working Set.
S-Parameter specific symbols in the Data Source are used for this type of data, as well as a specific S-Parameter toolbar.
The actual operation mode depends on the type of data
in the SEROdb file. The operation mode only supports the same type of
data sources in one instance of the Analysis
Result Viewer. If the Analysis Result
Viewer is opened from the Windows
Start menu, without a Data Source file, then you must define the operating
mode. When you click Open ,
the type is checked and a new instance of Analysis
Result Viewer is launched if it is different. The new instance operates
in the mode of the opened data source. If the type is the same, then the
data source is added to the existing instance, and is shown in the list
of data sources.
