Moving an Object

The following procedure describes how to use the Move command to move an object on the canvas. You can also move components as follows.

Start the Move command using one of the following methods.

Starting the command with objects selected

  • You can move objects on the canvas by dragging and dropping them at the required location. The Move dialog is not displayed when dragging objects. Alternatively, select an object and click Home > Move > Move on the ribbon.

 

Note

If a segment that constitutes a line, via or area fill is selected and dragged, then another command is started. This is dependent on the type of object that is selected.

 

Starting the command before selecting objects

  • On the ribbon, click Home > Move > Move, and select an object to be moved. The Move dialog is displayed. To select multiple objects, press the Ctrl key while clicking the objects. When you have finished selecting objects, click Selection End on the assist menu or double-click. Alternatively, click Home > Select > Select by Area on the ribbon, and drag on the canvas to select the required objects.
  • To flip an object horizontally or vertically, click Flip Horizontally or Flip Vertically respectively on the assist menu. Alternatively, click Home > Move > Flip Horizontally or Home > Move >Flip Vertically on the ribbon (only available in 2D View mode).
  • To rotate an object at the angle indicated in the Rotation step field in the command dialog, click Rotate by Specified Angle on the assist menu, or click Home > Move > Rotate on the ribbon.
  • To change the placement side of a component, click Placement Side A or Placement Side B on the assist menu.
  • To move an object to a different layer, click Move to Other Layer on the assist menu.
  • To add a net to an object, click Specify Net on the assist menu.
  • To specify that the tracks are rerouted which are connected to the component, set Reroute to ON in the Move dialog.
  • Specify the destination on the canvas to move the selected object to. The object is moved to the specified position.
