Moving a Component by Single Grid Positions

In 2D View mode, you can move a component that you select on the canvas by single positions in the Placement grid. Move it using the following shortcut keys on the keyboard. Alternatively, launch the Move command, and then use these shortcut keys to move the component. If you start to drag it, then using the shortcut keys will move it from its original position. Multiple components can be moved.

Value Description
Shift + "Up" arrow key Moves the selected component a single grid position upwards.
Shift + "Down" arrow key Moves the selected component a single grid position downwards.
Shift + "Left" arrow key Moves the selected component a single grid position to the left.
Shift + "Right" arrow key Moves the selected component a single grid position to the right.
Spacebar Places the selected component in the previewed position. Alternatively, click Finish on the assist menu.

 

  • On the canvas in eCADSTAR PCB Editor, select a component.
  • Press the Shift key and an arrow key on the keyboard to move the component. Each time you press an arrow key, it moves by a single grid position.
  • Press the Spacebar on the keyboard to place the component in the previewed location.

 

Note
  • You can change the Placement grid settings in the Grid Settings Dialog.
  • Any errors that are generated are displayed in the The Command Balloon dialog.
  • If you select a component and an object other than a component , then only the component is moved.
  • You can also specify the position of a single component in the Properties Panel, Coordinates box.
