Subtract

The Subtract command allows you to remove specified shapes from an object. It is executed by clicking Shape > Reshape > Subtract Subtract on the eCADSTAR PCB Editor ribbon. The shapes that are removed can be specified by selecting objects that overlap the relevant object, or by drawing a shape. This command is only available in 2D View mode.

Value Description
Selected shape If selected, you can specify the shape that is removed by selecting an object that overlaps the relevant object on the canvas. The corners of the shape that is removed are automatically filleted. Multiple objects can be selected using the Ctrl key.
  • When selecting multiple objects to subtract from, click Selection End on the assist menu or double-click the last shape that you want to select.
  • When selecting multiple objects to subtract, click Apply on the assist menu or on the Subtract dialog. Alternatively, double-click the last selected object.
Input shape If selected, you can specify the shape that is removed from the relevant object by drawing it on the canvas. Double-click to finish specifying the shape, or select End Shape on the assist menu. Areas that are common to both objects are removed.

Angle lock

Value Description
45-degree If Input shape is specified in the Figure to subtract box, the angle (in degrees) between the lines, or between the sides of the area to be input, is limited to the following values:
  • 0
  • 45
  • 90
  • 135
  • 180
  • 225
  • 270
  • 315
90-degree If Input shape is specified in the Figure to subtract box, the angle (in degrees) between the lines, or between the sides of the area to be input, is limited to the following values:
  • 0
  • 90
  • 180
  • 270
Free If Input shape is specified in the Figure to subtract box, the angle between the lines, or between the sides of the area to be input is not locked.

Subtract spacing

Value Description
Real number equal to or greater than 0. Specify the spacing between the object to be subtracted and the object from which the subtraction is made.

Thermal relief

Value   Description
ON   In the same net as the area to be generated, the subtract process is executed on pins, vias and padstacks in components, in order to generate thermal lines.
OFF   In the same net as the area to be generated, the subtract process is not executed on pins, vias or padstacks in components.
  Settings Displays the Design Settings dialog. This allows you to set the thermal relief thermal relief values, which are shared between multiple commands.

Subtract parameter

Value Description
Settings Displays the Design Settings dialog. This allows you to set the Subtract parameter values which are shared between multiple commands.

 

Value Description
Apply If Selected shape is specified in the Figure to subtract box, the Apply button is made available when multiple shapes to subtract are selected using the Ctrl key. When you click Apply, the specified shapes are removed. The Subtract dialog remains open.
Exit Closes the Subtract dialog without removing specified shapes.
