Offset

The Offset command allows you to create a larger or smaller copy of an existing object (only available in 2D View mode). It is executed by selecting an object on the canvas, and then clicking Shape > Reshape > Offset on the eCADSTAR PCB Editor ribbon. The Generate Offset dialog is displayed.

 

Note
  • When using this command with a single object, click the required object that is previewed on the canvas to execute the command.
  • When using this command with multiple objects, select the objects using the Ctrl key and click Execute

Value Description
Real number equal to or greater than 0. The reference object is offset by the specified value.

  • When the reference object is an open line, it is duplicated on both sides. Click one of the duplicated lines to create the offset shape.
Inside
  • When the reference object is an open line, a closed shape is generated around the line.
  • When the reference object is a closed line, and you specify multiple objects using the Ctrl key, then the offset shapes are created inside the original shapes.
Outside
  • When the reference object is an open line, a closed shape is generated around the line.
  • When the reference object is a closed line, and you specify multiple objects using the Ctrl key, then the offset shapes are created outside of the original shapes.

ExecuteA larger or smaller copy of the selected object is created using the settings that you specify in the Generate Offset dialog. This button is only made available when you select multiple objects on the canvas using the Ctrl key. To execute the command for a single object, click the required object that is previewed on the canvas.
ExitCloses the Generate Offset dialog without creating a copy of the selected object.
