Exporting STEP Files Using Assembly Configuration

STEP Advance exports board information to STEP files (*.stp or *.step).

Executing Export STEP Advance

  1. On the ribbon, click Design > Export Export > Export (STEP Advance) STEP Advance. The Export (STEP Advance) dialog is displayed.
  2. Enter the file path in STEP file.
  3. Edit the parameters. See: Editing Parameters for Export STEP Advance.
  4. Click Execute to start the export. The progress dialog is displayed.
  5. If required, click Cancel to stop the process (it may not stop immediately). A report dialog is displayed when the progress status reaches 100%.

 

Note
  • You cannot start and execute the command when you have designed system multi-boards.
  • Clicking Cancel may not immediately stop a process that is in progress.
  • Clicking Cancel in the final phase of a process may not stop the process that is in progress.

 

Editing Parameters for Export STEP Advance

Set the parameters used for exporting a STEP file.

  1. In the Export (STEP Advance) dialog, click Edit Parameters.
  2. The settings in the following categories are the same as those for the parameters for Export 3D Basic. See: Exporting 3D Files.
  3. Specify a method of generating 3D data for the following items:
  • Board
  • Hole/Via
  • Component
  • Conductor
  • Other layers
  • Modeling for CAE
  1. Set Deformation spec.
  2. Set the Output format.
Setting Value Description
Output format STEP format AP214 Output files in the AP214 standard.
AP203 Output files in the AP203 standard.
STEP config Assembly Output files in the assembly configuration. The layers and component shapes form independent parts with a unique ID name and a coordinate system. The outside of the area is not cut when only the component shape is specified. This is because one component-shape model is shared by multiple components in the assembly configuration and the shape cannot be changed uniquely.
Part Output files in the part configuration.
One entire board forms a part.
  1. Click OK. The parameters are applied.

Saving Parameters for Export STEP Advance

Save the parameters configured in the Edit parameters dialog to a file.

  1. Configure the parameters.
  2. Click Save parameters at the upper-left of the Edit parameters dialog. The Select File dialog is displayed.
  3. Specify the destination and file name, and click OK. The parameters are saved.

Loading Parameters for Export STEP Advance

Load the parameters stored in a file.

  1. Click Import parameters at the upper-left of the Edit parameters dialog. The Select File dialog is displayed.
  2. Specify the file to be loaded, and click OK. The parameters are set according to the file contents.
