For the footprint displayed in the Name box, in the By footprint section of the Add Component dialog, the Select Board Alternate dialog allows you to select an alternate footprint that is on the board, or which has previously been used on the board. This dialog is displayed by selecting By footprint in the Add Component dialog, and then clicking Select board alternate.
