Parametric Generation (DIP/SOP)

The Parametric Generation (DIP/SOP) dialog allows you to generate shapes for DIP/SOP components. It is displayed by selecting Home > Generate >Parametric >DIP/SOP on the Footprint Editor ribbon. This command is only available in 2D View mode.

Pin Shape Tab
Symbol Mark Tab
Component Area Tab

Pin Shape Tab

Allows you to specify the configuration of the pins for a DIP/SOP component, as shown below.

Parameter Value Description
Pin count Integer greater than, or equal to 2 (even number). Specifies the number of pins.
Pin pitch W Real number equal to, or greater than 0. Specifies the pin-out pitch in the direction of the X-axis.
Pin pitch Q Real number equal to, or greater than 0. Specifies the pin-out pitch in the direction of the Y-axis.
Pin angle Real number greater than -360, but smaller than 360. Specifies the angle of pin shapes that are located on the lower column. The pin shape on the upper column has an angle that is obtained by adding 180 degrees to the angle specified here.

Padstack name

Value Description
String Select the padstack that is used for the pin shape.

Origin pin

Value Description
String For the pin which is located at the origin, select the padstack or pad that is associated with it.

Corner pin

Value Description
String Select the padstack or pad that is used for the pins located at the four corners (except for the one located at the origin).

Position

Specify the pin position that is set as the origin. Select from the following options:

  • Center
  • Lower left
  • Upper left
  • Upper right
  • Lower right

Symbol Mark Tab

Allows you to generate a symbol mark for the DIP/SOP component, as shown below. The dimensions shown on the image refer to the values in the Symbol mark shape settings table.

Generate symbol mark

Value Description
Selected Allows you to generate a symbol mark. All relevant fields in the Symbol Mark tab are made available.
Not selected Specifies that a symbol mark shape is not generated. All fields in the Symbol Mark tab are made unavailable.

Mark shape

This setting is only made available if Generate symbol mark is selected. Specify a constricted symbol mark shape from the following options:

  • None
  • Open arc
  • Closed arc
  • Open rectangle
  • Closed rectangle

Symbol mark shape settings

The following settings are only made available if Generate symbol mark is selected.

ParameterValueDescription
Symbol length XReal number greater than 0.Specify the length of a symbol mark shape in the direction of the X-axis.
Symbol length YReal number greater than 0.Specify the length of a symbol mark shape in the direction of the Y-axis.
Mark radius RReal number equal to, or greater than 0.Specify the radius of the arc for a symbol mark shape. Specify this if the Mark shape field is set to Open arc or Closed arc.
Mark width dwReal number equal to, or greater than 0.Specify the width of the rectangle of a symbol mark shape. Specify this if the Mark shape field is set to Open rectangle or Closed rectangle.
Mark height dhReal number equal to, or greater than 0.Specify the height of the rectangle of a symbol mark shape. Specify this if the Mark shape field is set to Open rectangle or Closed rectangle.
Chamfer S1Real number equal to, or greater than 0.Specify the chamfer length at the lower-left corner of a symbol mark shape.
Chamfer S2Real number equal to, or greater than 0.Specify the chamfer length at the lower-right corner of a symbol mark shape.
Chamfer S3Real number equal to, or greater than 0.Specify the chamfer length at the upper-right corner of a symbol mark shape.
Chamfer S4Real number equal to, or greater than 0.Specify the chamfer length at the upper-left corner of a symbol mark shape.

Note
The value to be specified for chamfer is the length of the hypotenuse of a right-angled triangle.

Object

The following settings are only made available if Generate symbol mark is selected.
