Editing Vias
The following procedures describe how to set design rules for vias using the Vias tab in the Rule Editor dialog.
Setting Padstacks
Set the default padstack, and create a list of available padstacks as follows.
- In the Rule Editor dialog, select the Vias tab.
- Set the default padstack by selecting it from the Default padstack box. This padstack is used by default when creating vias.
- Select a padstack or multiple padstacks in the
Padstack box, and click
to move them to the Available padstacks box. These padstacks can be selected in the Properties panel when configuring vias.
- For design rules for a library, the list of padstacks that are registered in the library is displayed in the Padstack box.
- For design rules for a board, the list of padstacks
that are copied into the board is displayed. Click
Refer to library to toggle these settings.
Setting Vias
The conductor layers associated with the board are displayed in the Via grid. Create From and To values for vias as follows.
- In the Rule Editor dialog, select the Vias tab.
- In the Via grid, drag the cursor between conductor layers to create From and To values for vias. These values are added to the From-To box in the Conditional Padstack Settings dialog.
- In the Via section, create through hole vias and core vias. These are displayed in the Via grid.
- Click Sort Ascending to display the vias that you create in ascending order of their From value.
- Highlight a via and click Delete to delete it. Multiple vias can be deleted by dragging the cursor over the Via grid to select vias, and clicking Delete.
Setting Conditional Padstacks
Specify conditional padstacks as follows. These allow you to set the preferred padstack and signal when creating vias between specified layers.
- In the Rule Editor dialog, select the Vias tab.
- Click
Conditional Padstack Settings at the upper-right of the Conditional Padstack table. The Conditional Padstack Settings dialog is displayed.
- In the From-To box in the Conditional Padstack Settings dialog, select a via configuration. Multiple via configurations can be selected.
- In the Signal section, specify the Signals that are associated with the selected via configuration, if required. Multiple signals can be selected.
- In the Padstack list, select a padstack to associate with the selected via configuration.
- In the Conditional Padstack Settings dialog, click Add. The specified details are added to the Conditional padstack table in the Vias tab.
