Setting Shortcut Key Operations

The following procedures describe how to specify the commands that are run when you press the shortcut keys in eCADSTAR Library Editor, eCADSTAR Schematic Editor or eCADSTAR PCB Editor. You can add new shortcut key definitions, or edit or delete existing ones. You can also specify the default shortcut key definitions for eCADSTAR or CADSTAR, or load shortcut key definitions from a specified file.

Adding a Shortcut Key Definition

Add a new shortcut key definition as follows.

  1. In the File tab, click Configuration > Shortcut Key Settings Shortcut Key Settings. The Shortcut Key Setting dialog is displayed.
  2. Click Add in the Shortcut Key Setting dialog. The Add Key Mapping dialog is displayed.
  3. From the Key combo box, select a key to assign a command. The pull-down list displays keys that are not used as shortcut keys.
  4. From the Command table, select a command run using the shortcut key. The Command table displays commands to which shortcut keys are not assigned. You can narrow down the commands displayed by entering a string in the Command filter. See: Filtering Items in a List.
  1. Click OK in the Add Key Mapping dialog. The shortcut key definition comprising the selected key and command is added. The Add Key Mapping dialog is closed.
  2. Click OK in the Shortcut Key Setting dialog. The shortcut key definition is applied, and the dialog is closed.

Editing a Shortcut Key Definition

Edit an existing shortcut key definition as follows.

  1. In the File tab, click Configuration > Shortcut Key Settings Shortcut Key Settings. The Shortcut Key Setting dialog is displayed.
  2. From the Shortcut key table in the Shortcut Key Setting dialog, select the shortcut key definition to edit.
  3. Click Edit in the Shortcut Key Setting dialog. Alternatively, click Edit from the context menu of the Shortcut key table. The Edit Key Mapping dialog is displayed.
  4. To change the key, select a new key from the Key combo box. To change the command, select the new command from the Command table. You can narrow down the commands displayed by entering a string in the Command filter. See: Filtering Items in a List.
  1. Click OK in the Edit Key Mapping dialog. The shortcut key definition comprising the selected key and command is applied. The Edit Key Mapping dialog is closed.
  2. Click OK in the Shortcut Key Setting dialog. The shortcut key definition is applied, and the dialog is closed.

Deleting a Shortcut Key Definition

Delete an existing shortcut key definition as follows.

  1. In the File tab, click Configuration > Shortcut Key Settings Shortcut Key Settings. The Shortcut Key Setting dialog is displayed.
  2. From the Shortcut key table in the Shortcut Key Setting dialog, select the shortcut key definition to delete.
  3. Click Delete in the Shortcut Key Setting dialog. Alternatively, click Delete from the context menu of the Shortcut key table, or press the Delete key. The selected shortcut key definition is deleted.
  4. Click OK in the Shortcut Key Setting dialog. The shortcut key definition is applied, and the dialog is closed.

 

Note
  • In the Shortcut key table, the keys in the Key column that are shown in bold face are only available when the keyboard focus is on the canvas.
  • Shortcut keys that are not a combination of a key, and a function key or the Ctrl key, are only available when the keyboard focus is on the canvas. See: Setting the Keyboard Focus.

 

Resetting Shortcut Key Definitions

The following procedure describes how to reset the shortcut key definitions to the default eCADSTAR or CADSTAR settings, or to the definitions that are stored in a file.

  1. In the File tab, click Configuration > Shortcut Key Settings Shortcut Key Settings. The Shortcut Key Setting dialog is displayed.
  2. Click Load from file in the Shortcut Key Setting dialog. A menu is displayed.
  3. Load the definitions as follows.
  4. To reset the shortcut key definitions to the default eCADSTAR settings, click Load eCADSTAR defaults.
  5. To reset the shortcut key definitions to the default CADSTAR settings, click Load CADSTAR defaults.
  6. To load the definitions from a specified file, click Load from on  the menu. Select a shortcut key definition file to load in the Open dialog.
  1. A confirmation dialog is displayed. To continue, click Yes in the confirmation dialog. The dialog is closed, and the shortcut key definitions are reset.
  2. Click OK to save the shortcut key settings.

Saving a Shortcut Key Definition

Specified shortcut key settings in the Shortcut Key Setting dialog can be saved to a file, as follows.

  1. In the File tab, click Configuration > Shortcut Key Settings Shortcut Key Settings. The Shortcut Key Setting dialog is displayed.
  2. Click Save As in the Shortcut Key Setting dialog. The File Selector opens.
  3. Specify the file in which to save the mouse settings, and click Save. The mouse settings are saved in the specified file.
