Performing an ECO Update on the PCB Design

To synchronize the PCB design with the associated schematic design, execute the ECO Update command.

  1. Launch CADSTAR Design Editor.
  2. Select File > Open. The Open dialog is displayed.

  1. Use the dialog to browse to the location of the PCB design, and click Open to open the design in CADSTAR Design Editor. Confirm and close any dialogs that are displayed.
  2. On the ribbon, select ECO Update on the Design tab, ECO group. The ECO Update dialog is displayed.

  1. Click the Browse button to open the ECO Source File dialog. Use the dialog to browse to the location of the design and click Open to select it.

  1. Review the options available within the dialog in relation to the updates to be performed, and click OK to proceed. The Collating Schematic Design dialog is displayed.

  1. Ensure that all sheets are selected and click OK. The ECO Update process is executed. When completed, an ECO Update report is displayed.

  1. Click Close in the ECO Update report dialog. If changes where made, you are prompted to accept them. Confirm the changes to be applied to the design.
Note
  • It is recommended to perform a second ECO Update operation to confirm that designs are fully synchronized. This is indicated by the "No differences found" notification in the ECO Update report dialog.
  • Any errors in the ECO Update report dialog must be resolved in CADSTAR to ensure that the PCB and Schematic can be synchronized.

  1. Click File > Save to save the changes to the design.
