Creating the data required for Migration

In preparation for data migration, the Migration tools require both the schematic and PCB Designs to be exported to the CADSTAR ASCII archive format. This procedure is described below.

1. Open the schematic design.
2. Select File > File Export.
3. Select Schematic Archive, Whole Design and All Variants.
4. Click the Browse button, and select the migration directory that is defined during the preparation of the part library data.
5. Create a new directory named "Designs".
6. Enter the directory and set the design export archive file to match the item being exported.
7. Click Save to apply the settings, and then close the dialog.
8. Click OK to export the data.
9. Open the PCB design.
10. Select File > File Export.
11. Select PCB Archive and All Variants.
12. Click the Browse button and select the migration directory that is defined during the preparation of the part library data.
13. Enter the directory "Designs", and set the design export archive file to match the item being exported.
14. Click Save to apply the settings, and close the dialog.
15. Click OK to export the data.

All data has now been prepared for design migration from CADSTAR to eCADSTAR.
