Library Mapping
When you update library data in eCADSTAR, the Library Mapping dialog is displayed if a conflict is detected between the layers and attributes in the source and destination library data. This dialog allows you to map the layers and attributes in the source library data to the layers and attributes in the destination library data. Each layer or attribute in the source library data is represented by a table row in this dialog. If there is a conflict between an item in the source and destination data, then specify a value in the Destination Layer Name or Destination Attribute Name column for each conflicted item. Specify a new value by typing it in the column, or by selecting a destination value from the displayed drop-down list. When you save the settings in this dialog, a library mapping file is created.
- You can reuse a mapping file by browsing to it using the “…” button. When it is loaded, the table in the Library Mapping dialog is updated using the values in the file.
- If a mapping file that you specify includes extra layers that are not relevant to the current merge, then they are not displayed, but remain in the mapping file when it is saved.
Value | Description | |
---|---|---|
Library Mapping File | Displays the mapping file that is used to map the layers in
the imported data to the layers in the destination library. If
a mapping file is not displayed in this box, click Save
or Save as to create it. To load
a previously-saved mapping file, click ![]() |
|
![]() |
Allows you to browse to a previously-saved mapping file (*.libmap) in the displayed Open dialog. Select the required mapping file, and click Open in the dialog. The selected mapping file is used to map layers between the source and destination libraries in eCADSTAR. |
Footprint Layer Mapping
This section is displayed when conflicts are detected between source and destination layers.
Value | Description | |
---|---|---|
Source Layer Name | Displays a read-only value for each layer name in the source library data. | |
Layer Type | Displays the type of the source layer for each row in the library
data. The following read-only values may be displayed:
|
|
Destination Layer Name | If there is a conflict between a layer in the source and the
destination data, then specify a value in the Destination
Layer Name column for each conflicted layer. You can specify
a new value by typing it in this column. Alternatively, select
a destination layer from the drop-down list that is displayed
when you click a row. Layers in the destination library
are displayed that have the same type as the source layer.
|
|
Action | Displays the action that is performed for each source layer
when you click OK in the Library
Mapping dialog. This read-only value is updated when you specify a value in the Destination Layer Name column.
|
Attribute Mapping
This section is displayed when conflicts are detected between source and destination attributes.
Value | Description | |
---|---|---|
Source Attribute Name | Displays a read-only value for each attribute name in the source library data. | |
Attribute Type | Displays the type of the attribute for each row in the library data. | |
Destination Attribute Name | If there is a conflict between an attribute in the source and the destination data, then specify a value for each conflicted attribute. You can specify a new value by typing it in this column. Alternatively, select a destination attribute from the drop-down list that is displayed when you click a row. Two source attributes cannot be mapped to the same destination attribute. | |
Action | Displays the action that is performed for each attribute when you click OK in the Library
Mapping dialog. This read-only value is updated when you specify a value in the Destination Attribute
Name column.
|
Value | Description | |
---|---|---|
Save | The values specified in Library Mapping dialog are saved to the mapping file that is displayed in the Library Mapping File box. If a valid mapping file is not displayed, then the Save button and the Save as button function identically. | |
Save As | Displays the Save As dialog. Type the name of the mapping file, and click Save. The values specified in the Library Mapping dialog are saved to the mapping file that you define in this dialog. The mapping file that you define is displayed in the Library Mapping File box. This file can be reused, which is helpful when downloading multiple parts from the same online library, for example. | |
OK | If you have not saved the settings in the Library Mapping dialog, then the Save Mapping dialog
is displayed.
|
|
Cancel | Terminates the merge process, and closes the Library Mapping dialog. If you click Cancel when using the Copy Full Part command, then the paste operation is aborted. None of the part, footprint, symbol or 3D model data is pasted into the destination library. |
