Design Comparison: Results

The Design Comparison Results dialog allows users to check the differences that have been checked using the design comparison tool. The tool can be launched form the Design tab on ribbon in the eCADSTAR Schematic Editor and eCADSTAR PCB Editor.

Item		Description
Active Design		Displays the file path to the active design being compared
Reference Design		Displays the file path to the reference design being compared
Auto Send		Cross probe’s to the selection made in the Comparison results list.
Close		Closes the Comparison Results dialog.

Comparison results list

The details of the comparison results are displayed in the table. The table can be expanded and collapsed and will display the following categories for the results.

Variants
	Difference between variants	Displays the results by the following differences: Variant exists in the active design but does not exist in the reference design. Variant does not exist in the active but does exist in the reference design.
	Differences in parts assigned to the same reference designator	Displays the results by the following differences: Reference designator of the part name which is different between the active design and reference design.
Reference Designators
	Reference designators in reference design only	Displays the results by the following differences: Reference designator that does not exist in the active design and only exists in the reference design.
	Reference designators in active design only	Displays the results by the following differences: Reference designator that does not exist in the reference design and only exists in the active design.
Connectivity
	Different nets on the same pin	Displays the results by the following differences: The pin of which the net name is different between the active design and reference design.
	Unconnected pin in reference design	Displays the results by the following differences: The pin which does not contain a net in the reference design but exists in the active design.
	Unconnected pin in active design	Displays the results by the following differences: The pin which does not contain a net in the active design but exists in the reference design.
	Pin in reference design only	Displays the results by the following differences: A pin that only exists in the reference design and does not exist in the active design.
	Pin in active design only	Displays the results by the following differences: A pin that only exists in the active design and does not exist in the reference design.

Variants

If Variants is expanded the following category and field cells are visible within the table. The description of each item in the table is as follows:

Difference between variants		Displays the results by the following differences: Variant exists in the active design but does not exist in the reference design. Variant does not exist in the active but does exist in the reference design.
	Variant Name	Variation name that is different between active design and reference design.
	Design without specified variant	Data in which the target variation name does not exist. Active is displayed for a variant name that exists in the Active design. Reference is displayed for a variant name that exists in the reference design.
Differences in parts assigned to the same reference designator		Displays the results by the following differences: Reference designator of the part name which is different between the active design and reference design.
	Reference designator	Reference of a component of which the part name is different between the active design and reference design.
	Variant name	Variant name of a component of which the part name is different between the active and reference design. Undefined is displayed for a component for which no variation is specified.
	Part in reference design	Part name of the component in the reference design.
	Part in active design	Part name of the component in the active design.

	Reference designator	Reference of a component that does not exist in the reference design and only exists in the active design.
	Part name	Part name of a component that does not exist in the reference design and only exists in the active design.

Connectivity

If Connectivity is expanded the following category and field cells are visible within the table. The description of each item in the table is as follows:.

Different nets on the same pin		Displays the results by the following differences: The pin of which the net name is different between the active design and reference design. Note The pin swapping for which the logical polarity of the part is not specified for a two pin component is not assumed to be a difference. When the logical polarity of the part is not specified for a two pin component, a net change that does not involve the pin swapping is assumed to be a difference. When the logical polarity of the part is specified, the pin swapping of a two pin component is assumed to be different.
	Reference designator	Reference of a component with a pin of which the net name is different between the active and reference design.
	Pin number	Pin number of a pin of which the net name is different between the active ad reference design.
	Net name in reference design	Net name that is assigned to the pin in the reference design.
	Net name in active design	Net name that is assigned to the pin in the reference design.
Unconnected pin in reference design		Displays the results by the following differences: The pin which does not contain a net in the reference design but exists in the active design.
	Reference designator	Reference of a component with a pin of which the net name does not exist in the reference design but does exist in the active design.
	Pin number	Pin number of a pin of which the net name does not exist in the reference design but does exist in the active design.
	Net name in reference design	"No nets" is displayed because no net exists in the reference design.
	Net name in active design	Net name that is assigned to a pin in the active design.
