Create Skew Group

You can create Skew Groups in Constraint Browser by selecting them in the Signals tree, and either clicking Create Skew Group on the ribbon or clicking Edit > Create Skew Group. Alternatively, right-click selected signals in the Signals box and select Create Skew Group on the assist menu. Signals may include E-nets, differential pairs or busses. You can configure the Skew Group in the displayed Create Skew Group dialog. If you launch the Create Skew Group dialog without selecting signals first, then all signals are displayed in the 1: Select Signals section of the dialog.

1: Select Signals   Displays the signals that you select in the Signals tree in Constraint Browser, and allows you to filter them using the Filter box. If you launch the Create Skew Group dialog without selecting signals first, then all signals are displayed. If you select multiple signals, then the components that are common to all selected signals are displayed in the 2: Select Drivers and 3: Select Receivers boxes. You can select multiple signals in this section using the CTRL or Shift key, or by dragging the cursor.
  Filter The Filter list box allows you to filter the signals that are displayed in the Signal box by entering a value. Signals are displayed that contain the specified value. If you press Return after entering a value, then the value is saved in the Filter list.
  Signal box Displays the signals that you select in the Signals tree in Constraint Browser. If you launch the Create Skew Group dialog without selecting signals first in Constraint Browser, then all signals are displayed. The components and parts are displayed in the Select Drivers and Select Receivers boxes for each signal that you select. Select multiple items in the Signal box using the CTRL or Shift key or by dragging the cursor.
2: Select Drivers   Allows you to specify a driver component from the signals that you select in the Signal box. You can select multiple signals using the CTRL or Shift key, or by dragging the cursor. If you select multiple signals, then the components that are common to all selected signals are displayed. The contents of the Select Drivers box can be filtered using the Filter box.
  Filter The Filter box allows you to filter the components associated with selected signals in the Signal box by entering a value. Components are displayed that contain the specified value.
  • When you filter the contents of the Select Drivers box, the contents of the Select Receivers box are automatically filtered to only show appropriate receiver components.
  • If you press Return after entering a value, then the value is saved in the Filter list.
  Component Displays the names of the components associated with the signals that you select in the Signal box. Click a component to specify it as a driver component for the Skew Group.
  Part Displays the part name that is associated with each component.
3: Select Receivers   Allows you to specify a receiver component for the signals that you select in the Signal box. If you select multiple signals, then the components that are common to all selected signals are displayed. You can select multiple signals using the CTRL or Shift key, or by dragging the cursor. If you filter the contents of the Select Drivers box, or click a component in it, then the contents of the Select Receivers box are automatically filtered to only show appropriate receiver components. The contents can be further filtered using the Filter box in this section.
  Filter The Filter box allows you to filter the components in the Select Receivers box by entering a value. Components are displayed that contain the specified value. If you press Return after entering a value, then the value is saved in the Filter list.
 

Allow creating pin pairs in the driver component

Allows you to create a skew group in which the driver pin and receiver pin are on the same component.

  • Selected: a component can still be selected in the 3: Select Receivers section even if already selected in the 2: Select Drivers section.
  • Not selected: if a component is selected in the 2: Select Drivers section, then it cannot be selected in the 3: Select Receivers section.
  Component Displays the names of possible receiver components for the signals that are selected in the Signal box. If components are selected in the Select Drivers box, then the contents of the Select Receivers box are automatically filtered to only show appropriate receiver components.
  Part Displays the part name that is associated with each component.
4: Select Base Signal   This section allows you to select a base signal for the Skew Group, if required. The signals are displayed in the Select Base Signal box that are associated with any combination of the selected driver and receiver components.
  Base If selected, then the associated signal is specified as the base signal for the Skew Group.
  Signal The signals are displayed in the Select Base Signal box that are associated with any combination of the selected driver and receiver components. Driver and receiver components are specified in the Select Drivers box and Select Receivers box, respectively.
  Pin Pair Displays the pin pairs for each signal that is associated with the selected driver and receiver components.
5: Skew Group Name   Allows you to assign a name to the Skew Group that you create.
  Skew Group Name box. A name is created automatically using the common parts of the names of the signals that you select in the 1: Select Signals section. You can modify or overwrite this name if required. If there are no common parts, then you must type a name in the Skew Group Name box. Previously-created names are saved in this box.
  Create Creates a new Skew Group using the criteria that you specify in the Create Skew Group dialog. The name specified in the Skew Group Name box is displayed in the Skew Groups section when you click Create. The specified name is saved in the Skew Group Name box. This button is made available when the name of a new Skew Group is entered in the Skew Group Name box.
Skew Groups   Shows the existing Skew Groups. These are also listed in the Skew Groups table, in the Skew Groups section in Constraint Browser.
  Skew Groups box. Displays the Skew Groups that you define in the Skew Group Name section. These are added to the Skew Groups box when you click Create.
Close   Closes the Create Skew Group dialog. The Skew Groups that you create in this dialog are automatically saved.
