Creating a Board Block
The following procedure describes how to create an area in which to divide the board, using the Board Block command. This command is only available in 2D View mode.

Creating a Polygon Board Block
Create a polygon board block as follows.
- On the ribbon, click Board
Block > Board Block >
Board Block (Polygon).
- Enter a shape. A board block is created.
- The Save as dialog is displayed.
- Define the .pdes file that is associated with the board block. This file is a placeholder: the .pdes file is actually created when you generate a child board.

Create a rectangular board block as follows.
- On the ribbon, click Board
Block > Board Block >
Board Block (Rectangle).
- Enter a shape. A board block is created.
- The Save as dialog is displayed.

Select an area shape to create a board block.
- On the ribbon, click Board
Block > Board Block >
Board Block (Selection).
- Select an area shape on the canvas.
- On the assist menu, click Selection End. A board block is created.
- The Save as dialog is displayed.
- Define the .pdes file that is associated with the board block. This file is a placeholder: the .pdes file is actually created when you generate a child board.

For data that has been converted and opened, but never saved in this application, a file path is not automatically generated for the board block. To do this, select Manual in the File name input mode field, in the command dialog, and select File path.
