Merging Objects

This topic describes how to use the Merge command to combine two or more overlapping area fills, shapes or component areas into a single object. Start the command using one of the following procedures.

Starting the command with objects selected

  1. After selecting objects to be merged, click Shape > Reshape > Merge on the Footprint Editor ribbon.
  2. In the Merge dialog, click Apply.
  3. Select the object that provides the attributes for the merged object that is created. The objects are merged.

Starting the command before selecting objects

  1. Click Shape > Reshape > Merge on the Footprint Editor ribbon.
  2. Select objects individually while holding down the Ctrl key.
  3. Select the object that provides the attributes for the merged object that is created. The objects are merged.

Target objects

The following are valid target objects.

  • Shape
  • Area fill
  • Component area

Note
  • Only objects on the same layer can be merged.
  • When area fills are merged that have different pen widths, filled widths or filled angles, specify the area fill that provides the attributes for the merged area fill.
