Customizing the Quick Access Toolbar

The following procedures describe how to configure and save the settings for the Quick Access Toolbar, and specify its position.

Adding a Command

Add a command to the Quick Access Toolbar as follows.

  1. Right-click the Quick Access Toolbar or the ribbon, and select Customize Quick Access Toolbar (alternatively, select File > Configuration > Customize Quick Access Toolbar on the ribbon). The Quick Access Toolbar Settings dialog is displayed.
  2. In the Select command list, select the class of commands to display in the Command box.
  3. If necessary, filter the commands that are displayed in the Command box by entering a string in the Command filter box. See: Filtering Items in the Command list.
  4. In the Command box, select a command to add to the Quick Access Toolbar and click Add.
  1. The command is added below the currently-selected command in the Customize Quick Access Toolbar box.
  2. If a command is not selected in the Customize Quick Access Toolbar box, the added command is positioned at the bottom of the list of commands.

Setting the Order of Commands

Set the order of the commands in the Quick Access Toolbar as follows.

  1. In the Customize Quick Access Toolbar box, select a command and click Move Up or Move Down to change its location on the Quick Access Toolbar.
  2. If required, click Reset to display the default commands in the default order.

Removing a Command

Remove a command from the Quick Access Toolbar by selecting it and clicking Remove in the Customize Quick Access Toolbar box.

 

Note
  • You can also add a command to the Quick Access Toolbar by right-clicking it on the ribbon, and selecting Add to Quick Access Toolbar on the assist menu.
  • You can also remove a command from the Quick Access Toolbar by right-clicking it on the Quick Access Toolbar, and selecting Remove from Quick Access Toolbar on the assist menu.

 

Changing the location of the Quick Access Toolbar

Change the location of the Quick Access Toolbar as follows: in the Quick Access Toolbar Settings dialog, select ShowQuick Access ToolbarBelow the Ribbon. When you click OK, the Quick Access Toolbar is moved below the ribbon.

 

Note
  • You can move the Quick Access Toolbar under the ribbon by selecting Show Below the Ribbon from the button at the right side of the Quick Access Toolbar. If the Quick Access Toolbar is located under the ribbon, select Show Above the Ribbon.
  • You can also change the location of the Quick Access Toolbar from the assist menu that is brought up by right-clicking the Quick Access Toolbar.

 

Naming and Saving Quick Access Toolbar Settings

Save the current settings in the Quick Access Toolbar Settings dialog to a file, as follows.

  1. Click Save as in the Quick Access Toolbar Settings dialog. The Save as dialog is displayed.
  2. Specify a file name or accept the default, quickaccesstoolbar_custom.xml, and click Save in the dialog. The settings are saved to the file.
  3. Click OK.Your changes are applied and the dialog is closed.

 

Note
You cannot import the exported file into the Quick Access Toolbar Settings dialog. However, any settings specified in the dialog can be moved between different instances or versions of eCADSTAR, and between users.
  1. In the %APPDATA% folder in Windows Explorer, locate the quickaccesstoolbar_custom.xml file for the relevant user. This contains the latest changes made in the Quick Access Toolbar Settings dialog.
  2. Copy the file, and replace the relevant instance in the %APPDATA% folder. The copied settings are added to the dialog.
