Download Manager

The Download Manager dialog allows you to configure and track the download of data in eCADSTAR. It allows you to save a mapping file that defines how library data is merged into the most-recently active open design in eCADSTAR. It also allows you to browse to downloaded files, and begin the process of merging downloaded data. This dialog is displayed in eCADSTAR by clicking Home > Display > Download Manager on the Start Page.

Library Data

Value   Description
Library Mapping File   Displays the mapping file that is used to map the layers in the imported data to the layers in the destination library. This file is created in the Footprint Layer Mapping dialog when downloaded library data is merged into the library. When you first use the Download Manager, this box is empty. The mapping file that is created can be reused, which is helpful when downloading multiple parts from the same online library, for example. If Automatically merge library data when download finishes is selected, then the specified file is referred to when the library data is merged.
  • If a mapping file that you specify includes extra layers that are not relevant to the current merge, then they are not displayed, but remain in the mapping file when it is saved.
  • The mapping file that you specify remains in the Library Mapping File box, even after restarting eCADSTAR PCB Editor.
Allows you to browse to a mapping file (*.libmap) in the displayed Open dialog. This file is created in the Footprint Layer Mapping dialog when downloaded library data is merged into the library. Select the required mapping file, and click Open in the dialog. For all downloaded files shown in the Download Manager dialog, the selected mapping file is used to map the layers in the downloaded library data to the most-recently active open design in eCADSTAR.
Automatically merge library data when download finishes   If you download library data, this setting allows you specify that eCADSTAR automatically starts to merge it when the download is complete. This setting does not apply to data that you drag into eCADSTAR using Windows Explorer. This field is not available in eCADSTAR Library Editor.
Selected If you browse to a file to download within eCADSTAR, the Download Requested dialog is displayed. Any library data that you download will start to merge when the download is complete, regardless of whether you specify Open or Save in the Download Requested dialog.
Not Selected If you browse to a file to download within eCADSTAR, the Merge Confirmation dialog is displayed. Click Merge in this dialog to merge the contents of the file into the relevant design.
Automatically send downloaded parts to last active design

If you download a single part which contains a footprint, then this setting allows the Add Component command to be launched automatically after the part is merged. The Add Component command allows you to add a downloaded part to the most-recently active open design in eCADSTAR.

Selected If you download a single part which contains a footprint, the Add Component command is launched automatically after the part is merged. The downloaded part is added to the cursor. Add the downloaded part to the most-recently active open design by clicking a position on the canvas.
Not Selected If you download a single part which contains a footprint, then the Add Component command is not launched automatically after the part is downloaded.
