The New Block command creates a new block and an associated sheet. It is executed by right-clicking the Blocks item in the Design Tree panel and selecting New Block. The blocks that you create are listed alphabetically in the Blocks section of the Design Tree panel. To add the block to the canvas, select it in the Add Block or Change Block dialog. These dialogs allow you to specify whether the block is added with a Hierarchy Type of Multi-Instanced or Single-Instanced.

| Block Name | Specify an alphanumeric value for the block name. The value that you specify is shown in the Blocks section of the Design Tree panel. The default Reference Header for the block is set in the Design Environment, Block tab. |
| Description | Allows you to associate a comment with the block that you create (optional). The specified comment is displayed in the Comment row in the Properties panel when you select the block on the canvas. |
| Sheet Settings | Displays the Sheet Settings dialog. This dialog allows you to configure the sheet that is associated with the new block. |
| OK | Creates a new block and associated sheet, and closes the New Block dialog. |
| Cancel | Closes the New Block dialog without creating a new block and associated sheet. |
