Measuring the Distance between two Positions

The following procedure describes how the Measure command allows you to measure the distance between two points, segments or objects on the canvas.

  1. On the ribbon, click Home > Dimension > Measure Measure. The Measure dialog is displayed.
  2. In the Measure dialog, specify the required settings.
  3. On the canvas, select the start and end positions for the measurement. The measured value is displayed between the selected positions.

Target Objects

The following are valid target objects.

  • Line
  • Area fill/Area
  • Character
  • Hole
  • Pad
  • Padstack

Note
  • If the units are changed (for example, mm is changed to micron), it may take a long time to display the measure due to the space between graduations being very small. To avoid this problem, specify an appropriate value in the Graduation pitch field.
  • If you select ON in the Search data field, and there are multiple objects at the selected position, then the Next item on the assist menu is made available. This allows you to cancel the current selection and select the next object.
