The following procedures describe how to generate or delete a shield pattern using the Generate Shield or Delete Shield commands.

Generating a Shield Pattern

The following procedure describes how to generate a shield for a signal pattern for which shield control has been specified.

  1. To specify shield control, open Constraint Browser.
  2. Select a signal from the Signals tab.
  3. Open the Design rule tab. In the Shielding section, specify the following settings in the Mode column:
  • When a shield pattern is required around the track on the same layer, set this value to Same Layer.
  • When shield patterns are required on the same layer and adjacent layers, set this value to Same/Adjacent Layers.
  • When shield patterns are required on adjacent layers, set this value to Adjacent Layers.
  1. In the Net name and Gap fields, specify the signal name of the shield pattern, and the clearance between a shielded pattern and a shield pattern, respectively. The minimum gap is subject to the rules specified under Design Rule Stack, in the Conductor Clearance tab of the Rule Editor.
  2. Start the Generate Shield command using one of the following procedures.

Starting the Command with Objects Selected

  • After selecting a target object, click Net / Route > Routing> Generate Shield Generate Shield on the ribbon.

Starting the Command before Selecting Objects

  • On the ribbon, click Net / Route > Routing> Generate Shield Generate Shield.
  • Select a target object.
  1. In the command dialog, click Apply. Alternatively, select Apply on the assist menu.

Target objects

The only valid target object is Line.

Deleting a Shield Pattern

The following procedure describes how to delete a shield pattern. Start the Delete Shield command using one of the following procedures.

Starting the Command with Objects Selected

  1. After selecting a target object, click Net / Route > Routing > Generate Shield Generate Shield split button on the ribbon.
  2. From the drop-down list, click Delete ShieldDelete Shield.

Starting the Command before Selecting Objects

  1. On the ribbon, click Net / Route > Routing > Generate Shield Generate Shield split button.
  2. From the drop-down list, click Delete ShieldDelete Shield.
  3. Select a target object.

Target objects

The only valid target object is Line.
