Generate Conductor Layer

The Generate Conductor Layer dialog allows you to configure the area fill definitions for template areas in eCADSTAR PCB Editor. For overlapping template areas, you can set the order in which they are flooded with copper. For the layers that you select, you can also specify the net that is associated with each layer. Launch this dialog by selecting an area fill, and then clicking in the Properties panel, Generate Conductor Layer row.

Item   Description
Generate Conductor Layer table   Displays the layers on which a selected area fill is used, and the net that is associated with each layer. It also allows you to set the order in which the selected area fill is flooded with copper, with reference to other area fills on the layer. Add rows to this table by right-clicking and selecting Add Row on the assist menu.
Layer Displays the conductor layer on which the selected area fill is generated. Specify a value by typing it in the relevant cell, or click in the cell, and select it from the displayed list. The layer numbers are listed for the conductor layers in the design. An error message is shown if you select an existing layer number. An error message is also shown if you paste an existing layer number in this column.
Note
If you paste a copied row that contains an existing layer number in this column, then the layer number is not pasted. However, the values in the Net and Priority columns are pasted.
Net Displays the net that is associated with the selected area fill. Assign a value by typing it in the relevant cell, or click in the cell, and select it from the displayed list.
  • All nets in the design are listed.
  • Nets that are associated with other layers can be selected.
  • Assign a value to multiple cells as follows.
  • Select the cells using the Ctrl or Shift key or by dragging the cursor.
  • Point the cursor in a selected cell, and click the displayed button.
  • In the displayed Net Selector dialog, click the required net. The net is added to the selected cells, and the dialog is closed. You can filter the displayed nets by adding a value in the Filter box. See: Filtering Displayed Values in eCADSTAR Tables.
Note
Click to toggle the display of only power and ground nets in this dialog. By default, this is unselected.
  • If you specify a net that does not exist in the design, then an error is shown when you click OK.

Priority For overlapping area fills, specify the order in which they are flooded with copper. Area fills with a higher priority are processed before those with a lower priority. A lower value represents a higher priority. The overlapping area is assigned the net associated with the area fill of the highest priority.
  • Type in a value, or paste a copied value by right-clicking and selecting Paste on the assist menu. Alternatively, select Ctrl + V on the keyboard. Paste a value into multiple cells by selecting them using the Ctrl or Shift key, or by dragging the cursor.
  • Specify values from 1 to 100.
  • If a value is not specified, then it is automatically set to "50" when you click OK.
  • If two area fills have the same priority, then the one with the lower Template area ID value is processed before the one with a higher Template area ID value. This value is displayed in the Properties panel.
OK   The selected area fill is updated using the values specified in the Generate Conductor Layer dialog, and the dialog is closed. If a value is not set in the Layer or Net column, then an error message is displayed. In the Properties panel, "Set" is displayed in the Generate Conductor Layer row, Value column.
Cancel   The Generate Conductor Layer dialog is closed without updating the selected area fill.
