Properties Panel

The Properties panel displays the properties associated with an object that is selected on the canvas in Footprint Editor, and allows you to change the properties where applicable. Toggle on the Properties panel by clicking View > Display > Properties Panel. Alternatively, click Properties Panel on the status bar or right-click on the status bar and select Properties. When multiple objects of the same type are selected, the same items are displayed as when a single object is selected.

  • Properties of multiple objects can be changed simultaneously.
  • "Multiple values" is displayed if property values vary between selected objects.
  • If multiple objects of different type are selected, only the Fixed property can be changed. However, nothing can be changed for components, segments, vertices or cutouts.
Item Description
View Shows the type of object for which properties are shown. You can display the properties of only certain types of object by selecting a value in the View box, and toggling on Fix View. Values in the View box can be changed, regardless of whether Fix View is toggled on.
Fix View Selecting a value in the View box and toggling on this button displays the properties of only the types of object that are specified in the View box.
Property Shows the properties associated with the object that is selected on the canvas.
Value Shows the values associated with each property. The type of cell varies depending on the associated property. Set a value as follows for each type of cell. properties cannot be set when a command is running.

Numerical fieldA cell containing a real number or integer. Click the cell to set a value.
BoxA cell containing multiple options. Select a value from the box
Text padA cell with a character string. Click the cell to enter a character string to the text pad. To add a line break, hold down the Shift key and press Enter.
ButtonA cell containing multiple values. Click a button to display the dialog. Set a value and click OK. The contents of the dialog vary according to the selected property.
Button with cellEnter a value directly. You can also select an property value from the dialog that is displayed by clicking "....".
BrowseDisplay Reference Dialog If a single object is selected on the canvas, its associated properties are displayed in the Reference dialog, and can be saved by clicking Save as in the dialog. The Reference dialog is also displayed by clicking Design > Information > Browse Reference Dialog on the ribbon. See: Checking Object Properties.
Vertex information   If lines, areas or segments are selected on the canvas, read-only values for vertices are displayed. If you click a cell in the Vertex information table, a flag icon is shown on its coordinates on the canvas. If there are more than 10,000 vertices, they are not displayed and the Display all button is shown instead (vertex information is displayed when this button is clicked).

YThe Y coordinate of the vertex.
Line widthThe line width associated with the vertex.
InfoDescribes the position of a vertex in an area fill or cutout.
RadiusShows the radius of curved vertices.

 

Note

If you create an area fill on a user-defined keepout layer, then you can select whether nets or area fills are allowed within the area fill. Select either Line allowed or Area fill allowed in the Properties panel, Allow line/area fill box.
