Creating an Area Fill

The following procedures describe how to create area fills in Footprint Editor.

Creating a Polygonal Area Fill

By using the Area Fill (Polygon) command, an arbitrary-shaped area fill can be created.

  1. On the ribbon, click Shape > Area Fill > Polygon. The Area Fill (Polygon) / Component Area (Polygon) dialog is displayed.
  2. In the dialog, select Area Fill.
  3. Enter a shape on the canvas. An area fill is created on the active layer.

The following menu items can be selected by right-clicking the mouse.

Creating a Rectangular Area Fill

By using the Area Fill (Rectangle) command, a rectangular area fill can be created.

  1. On the ribbon, click  Shape > Area Fill > Rectangle. The Area Fill (Rectangle) / Component Area (Rectangle) dialog is displayed.
  2. In the dialog, select Area Fill.
  3. Enter a shape on the canvas. An area fill is created on the active layer.

Creating a Circular Area Fill

By using the Area Fill (Circle) command, you can create a circular area fill.

  1. On the ribbon, click Shape  > Area Fill > Circle. The Area Fill (Circle) / Component Area (Circle) dialog is displayed.
  2. In the dialog, select Area Fill.
  3. Enter a shape on the canvas. An area fill is created on the active layer.

Note

If you create an area fill on a user-defined keepout layer, then you can select whether nets or area fills are allowed within the area fill. Select either Line allowed or Area fill allowed in the Properties Panel, Allow line/area fill box in Footprint Editor.
