Add Text

The Add Text dialog allows you to add text and numeric characters to the canvas. It is displayed as follows.

  • In eCADSTAR Schematic Editor, click Home > Add > Text or Draw > Text > Text on the ribbon.
  • In Symbol Editor, click Draw > Text > Text on the ribbon.

Item   Description
Variant   Allows you to specify the text string that is displayed in the different variants of the design. This button is displayed only in eCADSTAR Schematic Editor. If there are no variants in the current design, then this button is made unavailable.
  ON If selected, then the Details button is displayed in the Strings box. Click this button to launch the Variant Text dialog. This allows you to add a text string that is displayed for specified variants of the design. You can specify its properties in the same way as for non-variant text. For all variants, the text has the same properties. These include its position, rotation, font, etc. Specified values are saved if you toggle this setting to OFF and then back to ON.
If the design has variants but a schematic variant license is not available, then an error will be reported after trying to place the variant text on the canvas.
  OFF If selected, then you can add a text string in the Strings box. This string is displayed permanently in the design and is not affected by the Variant view that is currently displayed on the canvas.
Strings Details In eCADSTAR Schematic Editor only, the Details button allows you to add text for specified variants of the design. This button is displayed if you select ON in the Variant field. If there are no variants in the current design, or you do not have a Schematic Variant license, then the Variant field is made unavailable.
  Strings Specify the text string that is added to the design. In eCADSTAR Schematic Editor, this string is displayed permanently in the design, and is not affected by the Variant view that is currently displayed on the canvas.
Specify Color   Allows you to specify the color of the text.
  ON If selected, the Color box is made available.
  OFF If selected, you cannot specify the color of the text, and the Color box is made unavailable.
Color box   Click the Color box to select a color in the Select color dialog.
Origin   Allows you to specify the position of the text relative to the position that you click on the canvas.
 

Top-Left

The position that you click on the canvas is at the top-left of the text string.
 

Top-Center

The position that you click on the canvas is at the top-center of the text string.
 

Top-Right

The position that you click on the canvas is at the top-right of the text string.
  Middle-Left The position that you click on the canvas is at the middle-left of the text string.
 

Middle-Center

The position that you click on the canvas is at the middle-center of the text string.
 

Middle-Right

The position that you click on the canvas is at the middle-right of the text string.
 

Bottom-Left

The position that you click on the canvas is at the bottom-left of the text string.
  Bottom-Center The position that you click on the canvas is at the bottom-center of the text string.
  Bottom-Right The position that you click on the canvas is at the bottom-right of the text string.
Initial angle   Set the angle at which the text is displayed on the canvas (real number greater than -360 and smaller than 360).
Rotation step   Set the angle increment applied when Rotate by Specified Angle on the assist menu is clicked (real number greater than -360 and smaller than 360).
Font   Select the font that is used for the text characters from those that are set in the library.
