Zooming and Panning the Canvas

This topic describes how to operate the canvas using the mouse, keyboard or the Mini Canvas.

 

 

Operating the Canvas using the Mouse

Item		Description
Button	Operation
Middle (wheel) button	Smooth pan	Drag the canvas while holding down the middle (wheel) button.
	Smooth zoom	On the canvas, hold down the middle (wheel) button. Keeping the middle (wheel) button pressed, click the right mouse button once. The cursor changes to a magnifying glass. Move the mouse up to zoom in. Move the mouse down to zoom out.
Middle (wheel) button and right mouse button.	Smooth rotate	On the canvas, hold down the middle (wheel) button and the right mouse button. Move the cursor to rotate the design.

Using the Mouse Wheel

Operate the canvas using the mouse wheel combined with the Ctrl, Shift or Alt key on the keyboard. You can assign these keys to the mouse in the Product Settings dialog. When Invert is enabled, the operation direction is inverted.

Item	Description
Zoom In/Out	Hold down CTRL and either rotate the wheel backwards to zoom out, or rotate it forwards to zoom in.
Pan Up/Down	Rotate the wheel backwards to move the view position down (pan the canvas up), or rotate it forwards to move it up (pan the canvas down).
Pan Right/Left	Hold down SHIFT and either rotate the wheel backwards to move the view position to the right, or rotate it forwards to move it to the left.
-	The canvas is not operated.

How to Operate the Canvas using the Keyboard

Item	Description
Pan	The ↑ (up-arrow) key moves the view position up. The ↓ (down-arrow) key moves the view position down. The ← (left-arrow) key moves the view position to the left. The → (right-arrow) key moves the view position to the right.
Zoom	Use the + key to zoom in. Use the - key to zoom out.

How to Operate the Canvas using the Mini Canvas

Item	Description
Pan	On the Mini Canvas, drag the yellow figure in the current view to move the view position on the canvas.
Zoom	On the Mini Canvas, resize the yellow figure in the current view to zoom.
