Adding Text by Specifying two Points
The following procedures describe how to add text to the canvas by selecting 2 points in the Add Text dialog, Text mode field. This method of adding text allows you to specify its size and position by clicking two points on the canvas.
- Launch the Add Text dialog as follows:
- In eCADSTAR PCB Editor, select Home > Add > Text on the ribbon. Alternatively, select Draw > Text > Add Text . The Add Text dialog is displayed.
- In Footprint Editor, select Draw > Text > Text.
- In the Add Text dialog, Strings box, specify the text that you want to add to the canvas. To add text for design variants select ON in the Variant field.
- In the Text mode field, select 2 points.
- On the canvas, define the position of the text by clicking two points.
- In eCADSTAR PCB Editor: if 2 points is selected in the Text mode field, then the Character width, Character height, Character spacing and Line spacing values are used only to specify the width, height and spacing of the text characters relative to each other. The actual values are specified by clicking two positions on the canvas.
- When you add text to the canvas, its position relative to the origin is previewed as shown in the table below. However, the actual position of the origin is as shown on the image that accompanies each option in the Origin box.
