Making Objects Selectable on the Canvas

Object filter sets allow you to specify the objects that can be selected on the canvas. The following procedures describe how to create and configure them using the Object Filter dialog, and specify the object filter set that is used to filter objects on the canvas. The object filter sets that you create are saved when your design data is saved.

Creating an Object Filter Set

Create an object filter set that defines the objects that can be selected on the canvas as follows.

  1. In 2D View mode, select Home > Filters > Object Filter Object Filter on the ribbon.
  2. In the Object Filter dialog, click Add to create an object filter set. The Add dialog is displayed.
  3. Define a name in the box and click OK. The object filter set is added.
  4. For the new object filter set, select the check boxes for objects that you want to make selectable. To make an object non-selectable, clear its check box.
  • Switching the object filter set changes the status of objects.
  • If you select -ALL ON-, all objects become selectable.

Setting Filter Conditions

This procedure allows you to set filter conditions for objects that may be included in an object filter set.

  1. In the Object Filter dialog, click Filter Condition. Set the required condition for the various types of object.
  2. Click OK in the Filter Condition dialog. The specified condition setting is displayed in the Object Filter dialog and is made active when the Condition check box is selected.

Deleting an Object Filter Set

Delete an object filter by selecting it in the Object filter set list and clicking Delete in the Object Filter dialog.

Configuring an Object Filter Set

Change the objects that are selected in an object filter set as follows.

  1. In the Object Filter dialog, select an item in the Object filter set list.
  2. Make the required changes in the Object filter table and click Overwrite. The object filter set is updated to include your changes, and is saved when the design data is saved.

Renaming an Object Filter Set

Rename a selected object filter set as follows.

  1. In the Object Filter dialog, select an item in the Object filter set list and click Rename. The Rename dialog is displayed, and shows the current name.
  2. Define a new name and click OK. The name of the object filter set is updated, and the Rename dialog is closed.

Selecting an Object Filter Set

Using one of the following methods, specify the object filter set that is used to filter objects on the canvas.

Using the Object Filter dialog

  1. On the ribbon, select Home > Filters >Object Filter Object Filter. The Object Filter dialog is displayed.
  2. In the Object filter set list, select the required object filter set and close the Object Filter dialog. The name of the selected object filter set is shown on the status bar.

Using the Change Object Filter Dialog

  1. On the status bar, click Change Object Filter Dialog [Object filter set name] (alternatively, press S with the canvas in focus). The Change Object Filter dialog is displayed.
  2. In the Object filter set box, click the required object filter set. The name of the selected object filter set is shown on the status bar.
