Reinforce

The Reinforce command allows you to reinforce the vias and pads, and the surface mount and through hole pins that are associated with a selected track. Changes in track width are automatically reinforced. If you select a track segment on the canvas, then the two nearest pads and vias are reinforced that are connected to it. If you select multiple segments, then all the associated pads and vias are reinforced. This command is only available in 2D View mode.

  • When launching this command after selecting objects on the canvas: you can select multiple segments using the Ctrl key, or by right-clicking a segment and choosing Expand Selection on the assist menu. Alternatively, drag the cursor to select multiple segments.
  • When launching this command before selecting objects on the canvas: you cannot select multiple segments before teardrops are added. This is because teardrops are added immediately when you click a track segment. You can select multiple track segments by dragging the mouse. However, you must include the relevant pad as well as the track segment.

Note
  • When you execute this command, thermal lines cannot be selected on the canvas. This prevents teardrops being placed on them.
  • T-Junctions cannot be reinforced using this command.
  • If the Minimum length ratio value for teardrops is not met, then the length of the teardrop is extended automatically to include the next segment of the track. If this value is still not met, then the teardrop is not created. Specify this value in the Design Settings dialog, Teardrops section. Teardrops are not extended in this way for tracks connected as follows.
  • Tracks connected to non-circular pads, including square pads or pads with a cut land.
  • Tracks connected to outside the center of a circular pad.
