Report Generator: Add Section

The Add Section dialog allows you to add the following elements that comprise a PCB to the Section box in the Report Generator dialog. If you select an item in the Section box, then the associated attributes are displayed in the Available items table. To add an item, select it in the Add Section dialog and click OK. This dialog is displayed by clicking Add in the Section area of the Report Generator dialog. Alternatively, right-click in the Section box and select Add Section on the assist menu.

Value Description
Board This section allows you to report on the following information related to the board, and add the text strings and line breaks that you specify.
  • Board: includes the board's saved location, its dimensions and associated technology, and the coordinates of the board outline. You can also report on the number of components and component groups, nets, conductor layers and holes in the board. See Board.
  • Format elements: any text or symbol can be specified in the Strings box that is displayed in the Item Settings section in the Report Generator dialog. The specified content is shown for each row in the report window, in the position specified in the Output items table. See Format elements.

Component

This section allows you to report on the following information related to each component on the board, including the part, footprint, component group and board details. It also allows you to add the text strings and line breaks that you specify.

  • Component: the total number of components in the design and any user attributes can be reported on, as well as their reference designator, placement information and whether they are designated a jumper. Information on decoupling capacitors (decaps) and the display of group nets can also be shown, as well as information on placement, component symbols and component strings. See Component.
  • Part: the part name, part acceptance status and user attributes can be reported on, as well as whether the part is a star point or jumper, and its solder method. You can display whether a part can be used in eCADSTAR Schematic Editor and eCADSTAR PCB Editor, whether it is included in the parts list, and whether pin swapping is allowed. Creation and modification details can also be reported on. See Part.
  • Footprint: footprint names and user attributes can be reported on, as well as their creation and modification details. See Footprint.
  • Component group: component groups and their coordinates can be reported on. See: Component group.
Pin This section allows you to report on the following information related to each pin on the board, and add the text strings and line breaks that you specify.
  • Pin:  the name, number, type and total number can be reported on for each pin, as well as the figure with which it is associated. You can also show its coordinates, user attributes and whether the associated padstack is "through hole" or "surface mount".
  • Net: the name and type of the associated net can be reported on for each pin.
  • Component:  user attributes, reference designators and placement information can be reported on for the components associated with each pin, and whether the component is a jumper. Information on decoupling capacitors (decaps) and the display of group nets can be shown, as well as information on placement, component symbols and component strings. See Component.
  • Part: the part name, part acceptance status and user attributes can be reported on for the parts associated with each pin, as well as whether the part is a star point or jumper, and its solder method. You can display whether a part can be used in eCADSTAR Schematic Editor and eCADSTAR PCB Editor, whether it is included in the parts list, and whether pin swapping is allowed. Creation and modification details can also be reported on. See Part.
  • Board: the board's saved location, its dimensions and associated technology can be reported on for each pin, as well as the coordinates of the board outline.
Padstack This section allows you to report on the following information related to each padstack on the board, and add the text strings and line breaks that you specify.
  • Padstack: the From-to value and padstack name can be reported on for padstacks, as well as their placement coordinators. You can also display whether the padstack is plated, whether it is a via or is part of a component, and whether it has been modified, compared to the version in the library.
  • Net: the name and type of the associated net can be reported on for each padstack.
  • Format elements: any text or symbol can be specified in the Strings box that is displayed in the Item Settings section in the Report Generator dialog. The specified content is shown for each row in the report window, in the position specified in the Output items table. See Format elements.
Hole This section allows you to report on the following information related to each hole on the board, and add the text strings and line breaks that you specify.
  • Hole:  the shape, hole diameter and length of holes can be reported on, as well as their placement coordinators. You can also display whether they are plated, and the placement angle for slot-shaped holes.
  • Format elements: any text or symbol can be specified in the Strings box that is displayed in the Item Settings section in the Report Generator dialog. The specified content is shown for each row in the report window, in the position specified in the Output items table. See Format elements.
OK The item that you select in this dialog is added to the Section area of the Report Generator dialog, and the dialog is closed.
Cancel Closes the Add Section dialog without adding an item to the Section area of the Report Generator dialog.
