The following procedures describe how to use the Net Settings dialog to display or calculate a net, send a net name to a command or specify the color of E-Net and nets.
Displaying Nets
Display an unrouted net on the canvas as follows.
- Specify that unrouted nets are displayed on the
canvas by toggling on
Display
Nets on the Quick Access Toolbar. Alternatively, select Net / Route > Net > Display Nets
on the eCADSTAR PCB Editor
ribbon. - Click Net / Route >
Net >
Net Settings on the ribbon. The Net
Settings dialog is displayed. - In the Net
Settings dialog, toggle on
(Show
net column). The nets associated with the displayed E-Nets
are shown in the Net column. - Select the check box in the View column for a net.
- Click the relevant net in the Net column to display it on the canvas.
Calculating Net Connections for Unrouted Nets
Calculate net connections for unrouted nets as follows.
- Display the nets associated with E-Nets by toggling
on
(Show net column).
- Select the Reconnect check box for a relevant net.
- If selected, then each time a connection is determined by a routing pattern or an area pattern, the connection is calculated. Minimized unrouted nets are displayed in the appropriate location.
- If not selected, then connections are not recalculated for the associated net.
- Deselect this check box to prevent a reduction in performance when calculating nets with several connections, such as power and ground nets.
Sending a Net Name to a Command
The following procedure describes how to send a net name to an active command. For example: for an area fill that is being created, a net name can be specified by sending the net name to the Area Fill command.
- In the Net
Settings dialog, toggle on (Show
net column).
- In the Net
Settings dialog, toggle on
(Send
net name). - If you click a net in the Net column, then the net name is sent to the active command.
Specifying the Color of an E-Net or net
Specify the color of an E-Net or net as follows.
- In the E-Net Color
or Net Color column in the Net
Settings dialog, point the cursor at a cell in the Net
Settings table. The
button is displayed. - Click the
button to display the Select color
dialog.
- Select a color and click OK in the Select color dialog. For E-Nets, the color of the E-Net and associated nets are displayed in the Net Settings table and in Constraint Browser. The E-Net and associated nets are colored accordingly. For nets, the color of the net is displayed in the Net Settings table and in Constraint Browser. The associated net is colored accordingly on the canvas. A blank cell means the associated net is displayed in the default color.
