Generate Mesh
The Generate Mesh command allows you convert an area fill into a meshplane by generating a mesh on it. It is executed by selecting an area fill on the canvas, and then clicking Shape > Mesh > Generate Mesh on the eCADSTAR PCB Editor ribbon. Alternatively,
Click Settings in the to Generate Mesh dialog to specify meshplane parameters in the displayed Mesh Parameters dialog. Multiple area fills can be selected. This command is only available in 2D View mode.
To create a mesh:
- If an area fill is already selected on the canvas, then click Execute in the Generate Mesh dialog.
- If one or more area fills are not selected on the canvas, then select one after launching this command. The mesh is created automatically.

- For non-conductor layers, only area fills on symbol layers or user-defined layers are converted into meshplanes.
- If you execute the Generate Mesh command on an area fill that is generated using the Generate Shield command, then meshplanes will not follow as shield patterns, even if the shielded line is edited.
- To assign mesh parameters to template copper, select the template area on the canvas, and then click Shape > Mesh > Generate Mesh on the ribbon. Alternatively, right-click a template area on the canvas and select Generate Mesh on the assist menu.
If a template area is changed to a mesh, then it is not affected by the following commands.
- Automatic Repour in the Template Area Settings dialog.
- Generate/Delete Conductor Area.
If a template area is changed to a mesh, then deleting the contents of the mesh reverts it to a template area.
