Layer Editor Dialog

The Layer Editor dialog allows you to edit the layers in the library. It is displayed by clicking Home > Editors > Layer on the eCADSTAR Library Editor ribbon.

Command dialog

Item   Description
  Reverts each change that you make in the Layer Editor dialog.
  Reapplies each previously-reverted change that you make in the Layer Editor dialog.
Layer table   Displays the name, type and padstack preview color for each layer, and allows you change these values. The order of the layers can be changed using the and buttons.
  Layer Name Displays the names of the defined layers. Change the name of a layer by clicking in the relevant cell and typing a new value. Filter the contents of this column by typing a value in the <Filter> cell.
  Layer Type Displays the type of associated layer. Change a value by clicking in the relevant cell and selecting a layer type from the displayed values. Filter the contents of this column by typing a value in the <Filter> cell. The following layer types can be selected.
  • Component Area: contains areas of components that are checked using the DRC command. The heights of components are also checked if a 3D model is not found.
  • Conductor: used for conductors. Multiple conductor layers can be specified.
  • Hole: used for holes. Only one Hole layer is permitted in a board design.
  • Inhibit: used for keepout areas between tracks, between vias, and between tracks and vias.
  • Metal Mask: used for metal mask data.
  • Solder Resist: used for solder resist data.
  • Symbol Mark: used for symbol mark data.
  • User defined: additional layers that you define. These are commonly used for notes or dimension data. Multiple user-defined layers can be specified.
  PadStack Preview Color Displays the preview color for padstacks on the associated layer. Change a value by clicking in the relevant cell and selecting a color in the Select color dialog.
  Moves the selected layer up by one place in the Layer table (select multiple layers using the Ctrl and Shift keys). This change is reflected in the Footprint Editor and Padstack Editor.
  Moves the selected layer down by one place in the Layer table (select multiple layers using the Ctrl and Shift keys). This change is reflected in the Footprint Editor and Padstack Editor.
Add Layer   Inserts a new layer below the layer that is selected in the Layer table.
Delete Layer   Deletes the layer that is selected in the Layer table. Select multiple layers using the Ctrl and Shift keys.
OK   Saves the changes that you make in the Layer Editor dialog, and closes the dialog.
Cancel   Closes the Layer Editor dialog without saving any changes.
Apply   Saves the changes that you make in the Layer Editor dialog, without closing the dialog.
